Coriolis mass flow meter advantages and disadvantages

Features of Coriolis mass flow meter

  1. Design Pressure: 400 bar
  2. Design Temperature: -200 to 300 Deg. C
  3. Sizes: 3 mm to 150 mm
  4. Fluids/ Applications : Liquids (clean/ dirty/viscous/ slurries) clean /liquified gases
  5. Flow range: 0 – 600 ton/hr
  6. Material of tube: mostly in stainless steel
  7. Accuracy is + 0.1% to + 0.5% of flowrate
  8. Range ability is 20 : 1
  9. Bidirectional flow measurement
  10. Meassured variable: mass flow, volume flow, temperature and density.
  11. Output: Pulse, 4~20mA, RS485, HART
  12. Power supply: 85~265VAC or 18~36VDC
  13. Advantages of Coriolis mass flow meter

  14. 1.Capable of measuring difficult handling fluids
  15. 2.Independent of density changes, flow profile and flow turbulence. Hence straight lengths are not required.
  16. 3.No routine maintenance required since no moving parts
  17. 4.High accuracy
  18. Disadvantages of Coriolis mass flow meter

  19. 1. Not available for large pipes (upto 150 mm only)
  20. 2. High flow velocities required for detection resulting in high pressure drop
  21. 3. Expensive compared to other flowmeters
  22. 4. Difficulty in measuring low pressure gases.
