Key Points for National Metrology Work in 2026

Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation officially issued the "Key Tasks for National Metrology Work in 2026", deploying 53 key tasks in six major areas, and outlining the "construction plan" for the high-quality development of the metrology industry in 2026.

Core tasks and industry impact

Improve the legal system

We will fully promote the revision of the measurement law, striving to have the revised draft submitted to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for review; at the same time, we will revise the supervision and management measures for energy measurement, retail commodity weighing, etc., to provide legal support for the compliant operation of the industry.

Upgrade infrastructure

Implement the special project for updating market supervision equipment, upgrade and renovate national measurement benchmarks, and establish original measurement standards; proactively plan for cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and biometric measurement, and issue relevant construction guidelines.

Empowering industrial development

Launch pilot projects for industrial metrology integration innovation, establish projects to enhance carbon measurement capabilities, and promote the deep integration of the metrology system with the industrial chain; focus on breaking through bottlenecks in high-end instrument and equipment, and facilitate the development of new quality productive forces.

Strengthening supervision and services

Explore off-site penetration-based supervision and promote the intelligent measurement supervision platform; pilot a new mandatory inspection model for charging piles, and conduct in-depth special campaigns for civil affairs metering.

The direct significance for the quality flowmeter industry

Technology upgrade orientation: The industry needs to keep up with the trends of high precision, intelligence, and digitalization, enhance the stability and anti-interference ability of products in complex working conditions, and meet the upgrading needs of national measurement infrastructure.

Compliance and Standards: The revision of measurement methods and the update of energy measurement and other measures will encourage the industry to pay more attention to product measurement performance and traceability systems, creating a broader compliance market space for high-precision measurement equipment.

Application scope expansion: Policies such as carbon measurement and industrial integration will benefit the application of mass flow meters in fields like energy, chemicals, and new energy. In particular, the demand for precise measurement and energy conservation and emission reduction scenarios is expected to increase.
