Recently, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued the "Key Tasks for National Metrology Work in 2026", deploying 53 key tasks. The core of these tasks is to build a modern advanced measurement system, enabling the development of new quality productive forces. Among them, fields such as flow meters and intelligent measurement have become key levers for industrial support.

I. Policy Empowerment: Dual Upgrades of Rule of Law and Standards

We are fully committed to revising the "Measurement Law", improving the supporting management measures for energy measurement and measurement calibration; and formulating and revising a number of national measurement technical specifications such as hot gas mass flow meters and vortex flow meters, and unifying the industry calibration standards. Starting from January 2026, the "Online Detection Method for Steam Flowmeters" group standard has been officially implemented. It adopts the external clamp ultrasonic technology to achieve non-stop production detection, significantly reducing the operation and maintenance costs of enterprises.

II. Industrial Breakthrough: New Stages in Domestication and Intelligence

In 2026, the domestic market size of flow meters is expected to exceed 36 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate of 19.3%. The domesticization rate will exceed 55% for the first time, and the middle and low-end segments will fully replace foreign products, while the high-end fields will accelerate their catch-up. The penetration rate of intelligent flow meters (including AI diagnosis and remote operation) has risen to 49%, becoming a core node of the industrial Internet of Things; domestic Coriolis mass flow meters have approached international levels of accuracy in high-end scenarios such as hydrogen energy and chemical industries.

III. Supervision and Services: Precise Guarantee for Development

Promote off-site intelligent supervision and carry out special campaigns for water, electricity and gas metering; organize 33 national metrological comparisons to standardize the traceability of measurement values. Focus on "carbon neutrality" and new energy, layout the construction of carbon measurement and hydrogen/CCUS measurement capabilities, and simultaneously strengthen the training of metrology professionals. Add no less than 1,000 registered metrologists throughout the year.

Next, the State Administration for Market Regulation will continue to promote the deep integration of measurement with the industrial chain. Supported by technological innovation and standard improvement, it will help upgrade the instrument and meter industry and provide solid measurement guarantees for high-quality development.
